UPDATE: Evacuation ends at Whispering Ridge Community School

UPDATE #2: Tues., Feb. 22, 2019, 11:00 a.m.: ATCO and the Fire Department have checked Whispering Ridge Community School and deemed it safe for occupancy. Staff and students are now walking back to the school from the Grande Prairie Alliance Church. A PWPSD bus has been dispatched for any students with mobility issues. PWPSD has received reports that the odour was possibly due to escaping sewer gases in the area.

An evacuation order has been issued at the Whispering Ridge Community School this morning.

Staff at the school detected a smell which they believed to be natural gas.

The school says all WRCS students and staff have been safely evacuated to the Grande Prairie Alliance Church.
