Mar 14, 2019 | 8:14 AM

The North West Junior Hockey League Final will begin Thursday night in Fort St.John as the defending champion Fort St.John Huskies battle the JDA Kings.

The Kings have had a whirlwind of a playoff run, going the distance in both their first round series with the Sundown Oilfield Services Sexsmith Vipers, and in the league semi-finals against the Dawson Creek Jr.Canucks.

They also faced elimination twice in both series.

Fort St.John meanwhile had a Bye in the 1st round of the post-season due to their 1st place finish, but needed 7 games to get by the North Peace Navigators in the league semi-final.

The two clubs played 7 times during the regular season, and Fort St.John won 5 of the meetings.

“We got to show up and play for 60 minutes,” stated Kings Head Coach Kyle Chapple. “They are a team that comes at you and you have to be willing to push back and play with them. They are well coached. They have some depth with their group, but with saying that we feel we match up well with them.”

Game 1 between the Huskies and Kings goes Thursday night in Fort St.John with puck drop at 8:30 p.m.
