January 12, 1950 – December 5, 2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Pat Gustafson, 1950-2021, on Sunday December 5th at her home. She is survived by her husband, Kelvin, and children, Ian and Elizabeth.
Pat grew up in the Frasier Valley of British Columbia, a lifelong believer in education she completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of British Columbia. While living at the coast she became involved with raising horses and dogs. A lifelong lover of horses, she always enjoyed a beautiful horse and had a herd in the back pasture when she passed away. In the spring of 1974, she married Kelvin and shortly after they moved to the Peace Region where they have lived ever since. Always active, Pat has been involved in many Associations, and perhaps most enjoyed her time as a coach. She touched many lives with her coaching of Fencing and Inuit Games but was an extremely active Shooting coach. A lifetime member of the Wapiti Shooters Club, she coached several local athletes to the National team and Canada Winter Games. In the process she was the Assistant National Pistol Coach and was one of the few in North America to complete her International ‘B’ level coaching certification. This helped provide her with many opportunities to travel and make friends worldwide from Australia to Iqaluit.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later time. We would love to have everyone share their memories of Pat with each other on her Facebook page.
A donation to the Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue Association in her name would be appreciated in lieu of flowers. bandagedpaws.org/donate
