William (Bill) Thomas Walker

July 27, 1952 – April 14, 2021
It is with open loving hearts that we share with you that our beautiful one Bill Walker is carrying on with his journey beyond the veil into all that is love and light!
William Thomas Walker arrived on this earth July 27, 1952 and after 68 years, left his body on April 14, 2021.
He spent his younger years in Hythe where he attended school, then into Beaverlodge for high school. He left early to begin his venture into the world. Shortly after Kim (Pandachuck) entered his life. They were wed September 4, 1971. And thus, the adventures began, lasting an amazing 49 years. They are blessed with three children of such astounding uniqueness. He leaves behind a loving community of friends and family: Shea, his wife, Loanne and their two children Peyton and Nyah; Dennis, his partner Angela and his two children Justice and Hunter. Donna Wiliams and her four children: Chelsea, Josh, Paige, Zoe and her grandchildren.
Bill had many nieces and nephews that carry such love for him and many in laws loving him dearly. He has two siblings: sister Rhoda (husband Lawrence) Laboucane and family, and brother Lawrence (wife Cindy) and family.
Bill served the City and the province in many different roles. He had many achievements in his long and illustrious career. He started with the City of Grande Prairie in 1973 by becoming a firefighter. He moved onto: Lieutenant, Chief Fire Prevention Officer, Deputy Fire Chief, Fire Chief, Manager of Protective and Emergency Services, Protective Services Director and Community Safety Director. Municipally he became certified in Local Government Management and had many roles including working with the City of Grande Prairie Senior Management Team and serving as the interim CAO for the Town of Beaverlodge. Bill contributed to the community and the province in many ways including serving as board member for both PACE Community Support, Sexual Assault and Trauma Centre, and Alberta Sexual Assault Services. He received many commendations for his work including the Senior Executive Fellows Program Directors Award from the University of Alberta.
Bill retired from his city career after 40 years in 2013. He joined Transitional Solutions Inc. (TSI) as a consultant from 2015-2020. Another shining career he so enjoyed.
Bill had many passions in life including being an avid poker player and painter. He loved playing games, cooking, playing and listening to music and spending time with family and friends. He also loved to travel, and he explored many parts of the world with Kim. His laughter was so infectious, and his love was far reaching across this planet!

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 5, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. at the Teresa Sargent Hall, 9839 103 Ave, Grande Prairie, AB T8V 6M7.
