New Year’s Eve-ning out returns to Muskoseepi Park

The City of Grande Prairie’s annual New Year’s Eve-ning Out event will once again be hosted by Muskoseepi Park on December 31.

The celebration and most activities will be free to participate in, however, horse-drawn wagon rides and face painting will cost $1 per person.

In a release, Mayor Jackie Clayton said “Council looks forward to the New Year’s Eve-ning Out event each year as an accessible and inclusive event for the community to enjoy during the holidays.

“We invite everyone to come together, share in the festive spirit, and create memories while celebrating the new year.”

The celebration will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. with fire dancing from 10:00 – 10:30 p.m., followed by fireworks at 10:30 p.m.

Full list of activities:

  • Horse and wagon rides until 9 p.m. for $1 per person (per ride).
  • Skating party with lights and a DJ on the Muskoseepi pond.
  • Snowshoeing (free snowshoe rentals).
  • Fire dancing from 10 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
  • Fireworks will set off at 10:30 p.m. over the Muskoseepi Park reservoir.
  • Live music from local artists.
  • Free hot beverages, including hot chocolate, apple cider, and coffee, provided by New Horizon Co-op.
  • Children’s activities include crafts and colouring.
  • Free cake beginning at 6 p.m. (while supplies last) provided by New Horizon Co-op.
  • Face painting for $1 per person.
