Search continues for missing two-year-old

Jul 9, 2018 | 4:34 PM

The search for a missing two-year-old-boy continues from the air, water, and land around the Wapiti River.

The toddler went missing Friday night near the Canfor Bridge.

Grande Prairie RCMP Corporal David Lee says a number of resources have been deployed.

“We have several boats on the water, including the RCMP boat, the Fish & Wildlife boat, and several other volunteers that we’ve used in previous searches, as well as some air assets, and a helicopter from a local pilot. We’re using quads and foot patrol as well.”

He says they are searching about 20-kilometres downstream, where the Wapiti and Smoky Rivers meet.

Lee adds they are still asking the public to stay away from their area and let the searchers do their job. He does have some advice for those who may want to donate things like food or water.

“If they want to donate anything, they can definitely drop it off at the RCMP detachment, donate it for the family and we’ll make sure they get it. Just again, stay away from our location.”
