2018-2019 NWJHL season kicks off Friday night

The pre-season games are in the books and now the six teams in the North West Junior Hockey League prepare for the 2018-2019 regular season.

The games begin for real Friday night as the Fairview Flyers host the Dawson Creek Jr. Canucks with the contest being held in Spirit River due to problems with the ice plant in Fairview.

Opening weekend will continue Saturday evening with a re-match of last years league final when the Fort St. John Huskies visit the North Peace Navigators in Peace River.

The contest will also be Darcy Haugan Memorial night as they pay tribute to their former Coach who passed away in the Humboldt Broncos bus crash on April 6th.

The first weekend of action wraps up Sunday when the Sexsmith Vipers host the JDA County Kings in their home opener.
