Edmonton Oilers defenceman Oscar Klefbom underwent surgery to repair broken bones in his left pinky finger and will be sidelined indefinitely, the team announced Saturday.
The 25-year-old was injured in the Oilers’ 6-4 victory over the Avalanche on Tuesday after blocking a shot by Colorado’s Sven Andrighetto in the second period.
Klefbom went to the bench and briefly return to the ice before leaving the game for good.
The 2011 first-round pick (19th overall by the Oilers) has three goals and 12 assists in 31 games this season.
