OFFICER IMPERSONATION

RCMP investigating peace officer impersonation in Grande Prairie

Nov 10, 2021 | 9:48 AM

Grande Prairie RCMP says they are investigating a report of someone allegedly impersonating a peace officer in the city on November 3.

Police say the report came in around midnight on November 3, when the caller told authorities they were parked in the area of Pinnacle Boulevard and 114 street.

A white truck pulled in behind them and allegedly turned on red and blue lights from the dash of the truck.

The truck reportedly stayed parked for several minutes without any occupants exiting before fleeing the area heading north on Pinnacle Boulevard.

Mounties describe the suspected vehicle as a white Chevrolet truck, around a 2010 model, with a small lift kit, LED headlights, dark tinted windows, and black detailing above the wheels.

It is unknown how many occupants were in the truck and no description could be provided due to the dark window tint.

The investigation into this incident remains ongoing.

This is the second time in just over a week that RCMP in Grande Prairie has responded to a complaint about someone impersonating a peace officer. The last incident occurred on October 29.

Mounties say from that incident, an 18-year-old male from Grande Prairie is facing one count of impersonating a peace officer and is due to appear in court on November 24.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Grande Prairie RCMP at 780-830-5700.
