Agri-Show starts today

Mar 12, 2020 | 5:30 AM

The 35th Foster’s Peace Country Classic Agri-show starts with a free pancake breakfast at 9 a.m. this morning at the TARA Centre at Evergreen Park.

Show hours for Day 1 will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

President Calvin Kirkham says things look promising for the 2020 edition.

“The Show is sold out. The Horse Program is really active this year and they have skijoring on Saturday evening.”

Skijoring happens at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Gordon Badger Stadium.

There will also be the trade show, Kid’s Zone, petting zoo, and the Peace Craft and Creations set up all three days.

Some chemical companies will be there putting on seminars.

Bandaged Paws will be there for anyone interested in adopting a dog or cat.

Kirkham adds trade show space is sold out again.

“I think it’s saying that it (the agriculture economy) is pretty stable, but the way the economics are now, I don’t know, it’s scary.”

Kirkham adds despite this, exhibitors are still in an upbeat mood, adding they are coming from a variety of places.

“All over the province. There are the regular ones that are on the tour and a few other ones that are coming, so that’s good.”

Show hours will also be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The Northern Classic Bull Sale is again set for 1 p.m. Friday afternoon at the Drysdale Centre.

The Ray and Dunnigan families will be saluted at a lunch and a banquet on Friday after being named the 2020 Farm Family of the Year.
