Search for man wanted in Whitecourt area case ongoing in High Prairie area

A man wanted in connection with a police incident in the Whitecourt area last week is believed to now be in the Big Lakes County area, and High Prairie RCMP are currently on the lookout.

Police in High Prairie received a call Sunday night about a report of what was believed to be a sighting of 35-year-old Bradley Duff, who was wanted after fleeing from the scene of a vehicle found in the ditch on the morning of June 9 near the hamlet of Blue Ridge. Duff was found unconscious in the vehicle, and as he regained consciousness, he fled the scene.

An investigation found the vehicle to have been stolen out of Edmonton back in April, and a search by Whitecourt RCMP, Police Dog and Air Services on that day turned up no sign of Duff.

Police now say the report on June 14 pinpointed Duff to be in the area of Range Road 185 and Township Road 742, about 20 km southwest of High Prairie and about 3 km southwest of Triangle Hall. The report claimed that the suspect was seen removing items from a white Dodge truck that was parked just off of the roadway.

A second report about that same white Dodge truck came in around 12:30 a.m. Monday morning from a passerby, who reported the truck to be on fire. An investigation into the vehicle determined it was stolen out of Whitecourt and Duff was the last known person to have been seen with the truck.

High Prairie RCMP have now deployed multiple resources to the area as they search for Duff. They ask the public to avoid the area and refrain from posting pictures of the incident of social media.

From the reported sighting, Duff was believed to be wearing all dark or black clothing and a red bandana covering his face. If he is spotted, the public is asked to not approach him as he is possibly armed and dangerous. Those who believe to have seen him are asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
