Fire advisory ended for GPFA

The snow that has already fallen, plus more in the forecast, means that the fire advisory has ended for the Grande Prairie Forest Area.

The wildfire information office cautions that fires can still start in colder weather.

It is also asking people to continue checking winter burns, so they do not become holdover fires.

Since January 1, there have been six new fires that have burned close to 74 hectares.

The Grande Prairie Forest Area currently has ten active fires, six of which are carryovers from last year. All are considered under control.
