Teepee Creek Wildfire now under control

May 19, 2024 | 4:29 PM

As of 2:00 p.m. Sunday, the Teepee Creek Wildfire is now classified as under control.

The fire started on May 10, and is estimated to be 1,298 hectares in size.

Rain over the last two days has helped fire crews immensely to get the fire under control.

The fire is still active though and crews of heavy equipment and aircraft will still be in the area for at least another week.

Fire restrictions remain in the County of Grande Prairie. Permitted burning is restricted to approved fire pits, burn barrels, and propane fired appliances.

The wildfire hazard rating in the Grande Prairie Forest Area is now rated LOW thanks to the widespread rain.
