Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie Campaign raises record-breaking amount for pediatric healthcare

The 2019 Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign ran this past September and raised a record-breaking amount.

A total of $62,080.11 was raised for the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation.

The money raised goes to the Key to Care Capital Campaign, and specifically for children’s initiatives such as the children’s playrooms and a teen room for the new hospital, something that Tim Hortons expressed a desire to support.

Dawn Miller, Major Gifts Officer with the foundation, says the donations continue help for the years to come.

“They get their naming rights on there, but it goes into an endowment fund that buys equipment in perpetuity. So really, your one-dollar gift is continuing to give year after year after year to buy equipment. So, you think it’s only a dollar, but it’s having a huge, huge impact on your city and region.”

When it comes to fundraising, Miller says Grande Prairie is unlike anywhere else.

“I think that is very particular to Grande Prairie. I’ve lived in a lot of places in Alberta and also around the world, and I’ve never seen a city that can come together and be so generous time and time and time again.”
