Busy local sports schedule this weekend

Sports people around Peace Country will be busy this weekend.

Deken Race the 8 goes in Rycroft Friday through Sunday at the Rycroft Ag. Centre Grounds. Wagons start at 7 pm on Friday with thoroughbreds to follow. On Saturday, calf scramble at 1 p.m., wagons and chariots at 2 p.m., thoroughbreds at 3:30, bull riding and mutton bustin’ at 7 pm. Sunday, wagons, and chariots start at 2 pm with the thoroughbreds at 3:30.

Wheatbelt Baseball League Friday, Peace River at Rycroft. Game time is 7:15 pm. Saturday, Manning visits the County Brewers for a double header. Game times are 1 and 4 pm at the Crosslink County Sportsplex.

The Northern Lights U15 AAA team will host Lloydminster Saturday at 3 and 6 pm and Sunday at 9 am and Noon. The U18 AAA team will host Red Deer Saturday at 5 pm and Sunday at 11 am. All games at Evergreen Park.

Car racing at the Hythe Motor Speedway this weekend. Gates open at 3 pm Saturday with the races starting at 5 pm. Sunday, gates open at noon, and races start at 2 pm.

The Eastlink Centre Triathlon will be held Sunday. The sprint, team, and try-it-tri races start at 8 am. Kids of Steel starts at 11:30 am.

The horse racing season starts at 1:15 Saturday afternoon at Evergreen Park. More on the races can be found here.
