GPFA wildfire danger holding at “very high”
May 9, 2025 | 7:00 AM
After the recent wildfire in Deer Ridge Estates, the wildfire danger rating in the Grande Prairie Forest Area remains at very high.
Alberta Wildfire says although we have received some rain, it is not enough to provide relief, and with the current conditions, firefighters expect an increase in fire behaviour.
As a result, the current fire ban for both the City and County of Grande Prairie will stay in effect; all outdoor wood fires, barbecues using charcoal and fireworks are all prohibited.
Since the start of this year, 24 wildfires have burned 9.4 hectares of the Grande Prairie Forest Area.
