City of Grande Prairie adds twelve new COVID-19 cases

The City of Grande Prairie added 12 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, while the province added 422 for October 26.

The new cases in the Swan City bring the active case load to 103, as there were no recoveries reported. There were also four new cases added in the County of Grande Prairie, where there are now 19 active cases.

Surpassing the threshold of 50 active cases per 100,000 people, the County was added to Alberta Health’s “watch” list, though no additional measures are being put in place at this time.

Alberta Health also updated its outbreak sites list, where Prairie Lakes Seniors Facility in Grande Prairie was removed. As of last week, there had only been two cases in the facility, both of which have recovered.

The Walmart Supercentre and the Grande Prairie RCMP detachment remain on the outbreak list.

INDIVIDUAL CASES ANNOUNCED TUESDAY:

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day October 26 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 254 cases (103 active, 149 recovered, two deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 86 cases (19 active, 67 recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 21 cases (four active, 16 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Six cases (one active, five recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 27 cases (12 active, 15 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: Four cases (one active, three recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 76 cases (one active, 65 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 53 cases (one active, 47 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 23 cases (five active, 17 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Peace: 34 cases (six active, 28 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 17 cases (one active, 16 recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 96 cases (three active, 92 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Nine cases (all recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 58 cases (one active, 57 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 414 cases (six active, 395 recovered, 13 deaths)

The positivity rate for tests processed in Alberta on Monday was 4.5 per cent, as the lab only processed 9,325 tests. Of those new tests, 447 were for North Zone residents, where 121,326 people have now been tested since March.

Hospitalizations remain low in the North Zone with four people in hospital, two of whom are in intensive care. Hospitalizations increased province-wide, where there are now 123 people in hospital, 16 of whom are in an ICU.

There were two more fatalities reported by Alberta Health related to COVID-19 on Monday, raising the death toll to 309.

There are 4,738 active cases of COVID-19 in Alberta, along with 21,108 recoveries.
